20th Century

The design and style of furniture in 20th century was back to basics, and furniture were made even more of a necessity rather than of having fancy and graceful designs. Dressers and chairs were made with simplicity, and were commonly made of woods such as cherry and walnut for they could be easily bent through the process of steaming.

Modern Period

As time went by, furniture shops became known in the modern period. This was started during World War II in 1940’s when the furniture designs were simple and sleek back then. Chairs were the great representation used for basic seating as forms of furniture that became very prominent during this time.

The evolution of furniture continued to blossom in 1970’s as the new materials used were introduced such as aluminum and iron. This furniture was popular in sleek and geometric designs.
